Point-to-Point Wiring: The Art of Pure Signal Integrity !

The superior engineering method in our Vacuum Tube Amplifier and Hybrid Tube Amplifier

Point-to-point (P2P) wiring is a traditional method of directly connecting electrical and electronic components without the use of a printed circuit board (PCB). It remains one of the most respected approaches in vacuum tube amplifier design. When executed with precision and optimization, P2P wiring delivers exceptional connection integrity, contributing to both superior sonic performance and remarkable long-term durability.

As a fully manual assembly technique, P2P construction requires significantly more time, effort, and craftsmanship compared to PCB-based methods. Among the various forms of P2P implementation, the approach we adopt for our vacuum tube amplifiers is the most labor-intensive and time-consuming. However, this commitment ensures outstanding structural robustness, stability, and reliability over time.

In both vacuum tube and hybrid tube amplifiers, P2P wiring is not merely an engineering solution—it is a form of craftsmanship. Beyond visual refinement, it enables a meticulously organized and optimized internal layout, where every connection is carefully considered. This level of precision plays a critical role in ensuring long-term operational stability, durability, and consistent performance.

Achieving a coherent and efficient internal architecture—where conductors and components are arranged with both structural order and optimal signal flow—is an inherently complex task. It requires the design engineer to precisely calculate every connection path and assembly detail. To fully optimize the circuit for sonic excellence, durability, and operational efficiency, the engineer must possess deep expertise in electrical and electronic design, along with a strong sense of spatial organization and aesthetic balance. This combination ensures both technical integrity and optimal interaction between all internal components.

At the same time, the execution of P2P assembly demands highly skilled technicians with exceptional precision and craftsmanship. As a result, this method represents one of the most premium and demanding manufacturing approaches in the world of vacuum tube amplification. It is typically reserved for flagship-level products due to its high production cost and stringent requirements in both materials and labor.

Through extensive research and practical application, we have developed our own proprietary P2P methodology. Its stability, reliability, and performance advantages have been thoroughly validated and are consistently implemented across all products.

The core engineering strengths of our vacuum tube and tube hybrid amplifiers create our distinctive sound.

The Output Transformer: The Heart of Sonic Performance

We take great pride in the fact that all of our high-end tube amplifiers—and the majority of our hybrid designs—are built around output transformers and toroidal power transformers entirely developed by our R&D team and manufactured in-house by highly skilled technicians.

This represents a significant engineering achievement, the result of 25 years of dedicated research, experimentation, and refinement. More importantly, it forms a fundamental part of what defines our distinctive sonic signature—a sound that resonates with music lovers who value natural timbre, emotional engagement, and authenticity.

  • Toroidal Power Transformers – The Foundation of Silence and Stability

All our amplifiers exclusively employ toroidal power transformers. Renowned for their superior efficiency, low electromagnetic radiation, and exceptionally low noise, toroidal designs outperform conventional EI or C-core transformers in critical applications. Their complex and demanding manufacturing process places them firmly in the realm of high-end audio, where performance takes precedence over cost.

  • Output Transformers – Precision in Power Delivery

The output transformer (OPT) is the critical interface between the power tubes and the loudspeaker. In single-ended designs, it is arguably the most crucial component in defining the amplifier’s sonic character. With over 15 years of experience and tens of thousands of transformers deployed worldwide, we have developed deep practical expertise across a wide range of transformer topologies, including toroidal, C-core, and EI designs. Our portfolio supports diverse amplifier architectures—single-ended, push-pull, and OTL—with power outputs ranging from 3W to 400W.

  • Interstage Transformers – Coherence and Control

All of our single-ended amplifiers incorporate interstage transformers (IT), designed by our experienced engineering team and manufactured in-house. By coupling the driver and power stages through transformers rather than conventional capacitor-based methods, we achieve superior control across the entire frequency spectrum. The result is a sound that is open, balanced, and richly detailed, with excellent coherence from bass through treble.

  • Oil Capacitors & Power Chokes – Purity Above All

We consistently prioritize the use of oil capacitors and power chokes in the power supply filtering stages of our tube amplifiers. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at achieving the cleanest possible power delivery, which directly translates into improved sonic purity, musical performance, and long-term reliability.

While these components significantly increase material and manufacturing costs, we consider them essential. For us, uncompromised sound quality, stability, and durability are always paramount.

Every design decision reflects a singular philosophy: to preserve the integrity of the musical signal and deliver a listening experience that is as natural, expressive, and emotionally engaging as possible.

Auto Bias: Design for Consistent Tube Performance, Effortless Operation and User Convenience

In order to bring the most convenience and ease to the user, all of our current vacuum tube amplifiers and hybrid tube amplifiers have been designed to have the tubes operate in Auto Bias mode. Accordingly, non-technical users can still easily replace the tubes without having to adjust the device, nor need to select the Bias mode, but it is extremely simple to just unplug and plug in the equivalent tubes to use immediately.

Unlike some tube amplifiers’ Auto Bias circuits designed to use current source with trendy semiconductor components, which easily add various colors to the sound, we still stick to the most classic Auto Bias design to keep the authentic, original warm sound of electronic vacuum tubes. Additionally, using many modern semiconductor components brings a temporary attractive (temporarily attractive hoặc temporary, attractive) look (,) but when damaged, it is very difficult to repair. We always try to avoid this.

Zero Feedback Design for Maximum Signal Integrity and Preserving the True Nature of Sound

Using Feedback or not using Feedback?

That’s the question all engineers and manufacturers have to choose from. This is like a choice between “beautiful parameters” and “fine music”. Using much feedback makes it easy to achieve high specifications such as broadband up to 10Hz-100kHz, low THD harmonic distortion, so many engineers have chosen this option for beautiful measurements and to be easy for marketing.

However, overusing the Feedback technique without understanding the music and the working of components such as triode, pentode, transistor, mosfet etc in amplifying and reproducing sound in an electronic circuit will create a product that is beautiful in terms of measurement parameters but poor in music and the emotions of the music. With a team of engineers highly trained in electronics, achieving beautiful measurements is a basic standard that all our amps must achieve. Moreover, not only do they have good measurement parameters, all of our vacuum tube amplifier models and hybrid tube amplifier models now have the Zero Feedback standard to prioritize the natural reproduction of the sound and performing music with the best musicality and emotion.

In the field of vacuum tube amplification, after 25 years of research, testing and improvement, all of our current products have achieved wide bandwidth, low harmonic distortion, extremely low noise, and still retain the best music quality with Zero Feedback standard. For veteran fans of vacuum tube amps, who have experienced many audio products, the amps with Zero Feedback are always the first choice. Mavis’s hybrid tube amplification also inherited this great standard.
